This is my 1946 7AC Aeronca Champ that I've owned since 1985. After flying it all those years I decided it was time to do a full restoration on it. While it's been recovered in the past it's never had a complete rebuild. This is a complete disassembly of the entire airframe that will take multiple years to complete. I started in the spring of 2004 by removing the fabric from the wings and began disassembly of the left wing. I knew the left wing needed the most work because it was last covered in 1970 and had repairs from some damage in 1964. All of the aileron ribs needed to be replaced because of damage and poor repairs. Some other ribs were too bent or had too many patches to keep. Both spars had small patches that were questionable, so they too were replaced. All the fittings were bead blasted and primed. When I'm done I'll have new cables, bearings and new hardware in the wing. Next spring I'll start on the right wing which should be in better shape.
