Blaine Aviation Days
Mark May 17 and 18 on your calendar.
As plans come together this promises to be a really exciting event for Anoka County Airport. The event brings together the airport community, the aviation community, the local community and many participants from surrounding states. It gives those not involved in aviation a snap shot of what we do in aviation and a chance to go inside the chain link that now surrounds so many airports.

Many warbirds will be forming up for a fly over of the State Capital on Saturday. One of the very unique airplanes that will be there is a P-38, Lightning. There will be over 25 WWII and vintage airplanes in the fly over including T-6, T-28, P-51, P-40, Stinson, Albatross and Stearman.
Aircraft Owners are encouraged to bring their airplanes out or fly in. Join us for some great food, hangar talk and a chance to admire other aircraft close up. We especially want to invite tenants of ANE to bring out their airplanes to show the public. The Civil Air Patrol will be marshalling airplanes on the ramp and in the grass area aircraft parking. They will also be keeping a watchful eye over the display and parked aircraft.
Helicopter and airplane rides will be available including the opportunity to ride in a 1929 Travelaire 4000, an open cockpit biplane. Local flight schools will be offering rides and will have airplanes on display.
Collector Cars will be featured at the event. Several car clubs have expressed an interest in displaying their pride and joy. If your club or members have a car they are very proud of they may display it at Blaine Aviation Weekend.
The Annual Hangar Dance is scheduled for Saturday evening. This will be the Eighth Annual occurance of this great dance. It is enjoyed greatly by all who attend. Featuring the sights & sounds of the 1940’s swing band of Dave Andrew’s Big Band. The doors open at 7pm with music from 8pm to Midnight. $10-Adults, $6-teens ages 13-17, ages 12 & under FREE. Come in your best period dress! Dance will be at Golden Wings Museum.
Volunteers are needed to make this event work. If you have volunteered in previous years for D.A.D or Blaine Aviation Weekend you will be contacted. If you would like to join in the fun and experience a fly-in close up please volunteer. An e-mail to Lyle will get you on the list. As we get closer and there are more volunteers times and days will be assigned taking in to account your needs and desires. Your participation in the event is greatly appreciated.
Posters and flyers are available in full color. For a large color rendition of this year's poster, click here or for a letter sized B&W image, click here. (It does have a red banner at the top.) Either may be printed and distributed. Thank you.
Vendors and Exhibitors are cordially invited to take part in this event. We will have a limited amount of outdoor exhibit space available. Get your request in early to assure that you are included. Vendors at past Blaine Aviation Weekends have reported good sales and interest in their products.
As plans solidify there will be more specific contact information for various participants. For now an e-mail to Lyle Peterson will get you on the list to receive more information concering your participation.

We hope you will join us for an even better event in 2008

Weather and mechanical issues may change the line up of airplanes expected. The display aircraft are privately owned and the owners are volunteering their airplane, expenses and time to give the visiting public and other pilots the opportunity to see their fine airplanes. There is a fee for rides given in any aircraft offering rides.
